There is a new sheriff in town!

There is a new Sheriff in town...

Getting Reya to do anything against her wishes is an uphill battle... Studies (unless it's reading) is not on her radar unless dropped like an atom bomb... and chores... in my dreams!!! If she doesn't want to do something, she has a million ways to get out of it.

Hubby and I have the unpleasant task of maintaining order and discipline in the household. OK, I can hear him laugh hysterically on this one even though he is not here!... Order in our house... OK I am laughing too now!... and getting Reya to a simple chores can be a mix of bargaining, pleading, bribery, warning and a lot more... What can I say, discipline is hard!

Father's day!

Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope. ~Bill Cosby

It was father's day yesterday and Rahul got a couple hand made cards from the kids... and as he gushed over them pretending that they were the best gifts, I stood there admiring him... he is a great father... loves his kids to bits, always very funny and playful, but knows when to discipline. !

Putting on the oxygen mask

Everytime Reya or Rithik fall sick, I remember my first trip to Emergency room with Reya...

Before I tell you that story, let me back up 11 years... year 1999, I got married that year and had quite a bit of air travel that year... Everytime I boarded a plane, I heard the flight attendant announce "Please secure your own oxygen mask before assisting your child.". I felt curious as to why? Rahul explained that while it only took a few seconds to help your child, if you don't put on your mask first and passed out while you were helping the child, both of you may die... whereas if you survive, you can help your child...

Hmm... Made perfect sense! I was convinced!

Only the thing that makes perfect sense in theory is very hard to do practically as I found out in 2006

Introducing Reya and Rithik

Motherhood, such a warm word... full of feelings, but some time back, I read a quote... "Mothers of teens know Why Some Animals Eat Their Young"

And then I read another one... "Motherhood is like being pecked to death by chickens."

Do you agree with this? ??
